USTR issues sixth round of Section 301 exclusions

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative on Monday announced its sixth round of Section 301 tariff exclusions. The exclusions apply to 110 specially prepared product descriptions covering 362 separate requests, USTR said. The exclusions apply to products on a first tranche of tariffs that took effect Saturday covering $34 billion worth of goods from China in 2017 import value. The exclusions will apply retroactively to the July 6, 2018, effective date of the tariffs and will extend for one year after publication of the exclusion notice in the Federal Register. The notice is expected to be published in the Federal Register on Tuesday. Customs and Border Protection will issue instructions on entry guidance and implementation, USTR said. Pumps and various machine parts are among the products heavily covered by the exclusions. USTR will continue to issue determinations on pending exclusions requests on a periodic basis, the agency said.
