United Airlines Cargo has opened a new cargo consolidation center at
the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, which will expedite freight
shipments between Texas and markets in Asia, Europe, the South Pacific and
Latin America.
The center will use a dedicated trucking service to connect with Austin,
Houston and San Antonio, Texas; and Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Okla.
Expansion to other cities is planned for the fall.
Goods brought to the center are containerized and move via road feeders
to United’s international gateways in Chicago and Los Angeles.
United treats the trucks as airplanes and receive flight numbers and
priority status at the gateway.
