Union-Transport Group has acquired the ocean freight forwarding business
of Furness Logistics Group, based in Dordrecht, the Netherlands.
The Furness/Dordrecht operation, which primarily handles ocean freight
imports into the Netherlands from Asia and the U.S., will be combined with
an expanded U-T Netherlands operation, which includes inbound air and ocean
logistics services. The combined operation covers employees in three
locations: Amsterdam-Schiphol, Rotterdam and Eindhoven.
U-T had been involved in an 18-month alliance with Furness, covering
warehousing and distribution services in key European freight markets.
