IDC, a 3PL and e-commerce fulfillment company founded in 1998, will continue its Chicago-based operations under the same name with its current employees. The company’s local leadership will remain in place to guide operations and support Symbia in its efforts to expand its e-commerce capabilities across the nation, according to a Symbia press release.
“This acquisition — the fourth in the past 12 months — positions Symbia to more effectively provide economical shipping options for its clients throughout the Midwest and Northeast,” the company said in the release.
In December, Symbia announced it had closed on three acquisitions, including the purchase of Denver-based Mountain States Logistics in April. The company also acquired Kansas City, Mo.-based Innovative Fulfillment Solutions and Nevada Distribution Center, located in Reno, Nev., last year.
It also opened an e-commerce fulfillment center Jan. 17 in Aurora, Colo.
“This is a strategic acquisition to not only broaden our reach but add depth to the services we provide our clients across the U.S.,” Symbia President Tom Flynn (pictured) said. “iD Commerce + Logistics has an established network and client base in consumer products, healthcare and beauty and subscription box fulfillment services, which is a large focus of our growth strategy.”
