The University of Denver has appointed David Fisher to executive director of its Transportation Institute (DTI), a graduate education program designed for transportation, logistics and supply chain executives.
Fisher brings more than 30 years of supply chain experience to the position.
“We sought a leader with a strong business acumen, industry insight and collaborative spirit, someone who can further the DTI mission of developing the future leaders of transportation, logistics and supply chain,” said Michael McGuire, dean of the University College, which houses DTI, in a statement.
Prior to his appointment at the Transportation Institute, Fisher served as global transportation and logistics director for Johns-Manville, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, in Denver. He also founded the Berkshire Hathaway Logistics Council.
Before that, he held senior transportation and logistics management roles at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Danzas Corp. (now DHL).
Fisher is certified in transportation and logistics by the American Society of Transportation and Logistics and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. He has served on the boards of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Rocky Mountain Chapter and the National Industrial Transportation League, as well as the editorial board of American Shipper. He has also been a guest lecturer at the University of Denver.
In recent years, Fisher served as an advising director to several enterprise boards focused on digital freight management and optimization, publication and data mining, and manufacturers seeking to optimize their supply chains.
“David’s perspectives and experiences will be incredibly valuable as we further the mission of the Transportation Institute,” said Steve Rhode, DTI board chairman and general manager of SFI Trucks and Financing. “As we look to educate and support the future leaders of this industry, having David at the helm of DTI will surely strengthen the solid reputation of the institute.”
