German logistics services provider Rhenus announced Tuesday it had acquired Miami-based freight forwarder and logistics solutions provider Freight Logistics.
The terms of the acquisition, Rhenus’ sixth since November, were not disclosed. The management team and all of its employees in the region will remain with Freight Logistics, which was founded in 2001 by Gabriel de Godoy, Rhenus said.
Freight Logistics, which operates its own consolidation hub near Miami International Airport with offices in Argentina, Brazil and Chile, specializes in supply chain solutions, air and ocean international transportation, customs brokerage, compliance, warehousing and distribution. It also is IATA accredited and a licensed NVOCC.
“The acquisition of Freight Logistics is an important step for us in expanding our business activities in the Americas region and follows our latest acquisition of Rodair in Canada in the beginning of 2019,” said Jörn Schmersahl, CEO of Rhenus Air & Ocean Americas, in a statement. “These steps enable us to consolidate our network there and to serve both North America and the Latin American region from Miami as our new gateway.”
Freight Logistics’ focus on high-tech and IT, including the development of its own proprietary software and warehousing management systems infrastructure, mobile applications, implementation and integration services, will complement Rhenus’ activities in the area, Schmersahl added.
Rhenus, which has 610 locations and employees 29,000 people, purchased both World Net Logistics and Rodair in March. It announced the acquisitions of Core Management Logistics in January, Cesped in December and SBL Importverkehrslogistik in November.
