PORTS ADD FUNDING TO COMPLETE ALAMEDA CORRIDOR PROJECT    The Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles have agreed to help fund the completion of a commuter bridge over the Pacific Coast Highway between the Port of Long Beach and Wilmington, Calif. The ports will each allocate $5 million toward the completion of the delayed project.
   A $42-million funding shortfall has stalled construction on the bridge linking the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles to nearby rail facilities. The bridge is the last overpass to be completed over the Alameda Corridor, which will increase the speed at which import and export goods are moved in and out of the port.
   In addition to the $10 million in funding from the ports, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will provide $14 million; the railroads will pledge $4 million; and Caltrans will be responsible for an additional $14 million on top of $67 million it has already provided.
   “We hope the action provides impetus for getting the Pacific Coast Grade Separation project moving as quickly as possible,” said Richard Steinke, executive director of the Port of Long Beach.
