OOCL has introduced in Europe a system that allows shippers and
forwarders to download an image of the B/L from the carrier’s documentation
computer system via the Internet and print it on their premises.
The carrier started offering the Internet B/L system in Europe following
its introduction in North America two years ago and in Asia and Australia
last year.
C.L. Ting, managing director of OOCL (Europe) Ltd. and former head of
OOCL (USA) Inc., said that OOCL is the first shipping line to offer the
Internet B/L facility service in Europe and one of two to offer it in North
America, along with APL.
