NS CREATES MODALGISTICS, NAMES LAWSON PRESIDENT

NS CREATES MODALGISTICS, NAMES LAWSON PRESIDENT    Norfolk Southern Corp. has created Modalgistics, a new supply chain services group to modal and distribution services, and has named David T. Lawson president of the new unit.
   Modalgistics will provide customers with transportation, materials management and distribution services in a single package at a single price. The unit will develop service products combining traditional rail with truck, NS's Triple Crown Service, warehousing and information services.
   The unit combines NS's forest products, distribution services and auto supply chain groups.
   Lawson, who joined Norfolk Southern in 1988, has been senior director, automotive supply and distribution services for NS since last year. He has held sales and marketing positions, including serving as assistant national manager for NS's Ford Motor Co. account and national manager for the General Motors Corp. account.
