NORASIA SHIP MAKES HONK KONG/VANCOUVER TRANSIT IN 10 DAYS

   The Norasia Sheba, a new 1400-TEU containership operated by Norasia Line, sailed in a record 10 days from Hong Kong to Vancouver, British Columbia.
    The ship sailed from Hong Kong on July 5 and arrived in Vancouver on July 15, averaging 25 knots on the journey. The 10-day transit was a trial for the new vessel. The service will maintain its advertised transit time of 11.5 days from Hong Kong to Vancouver via Keelung and Busan, a senior executive of Norasia told American Shipper.
    Norasia is replacing 18-knot, 900-TEU chartered ships by fast, newly-built owned vessels of 1,400-TEU on this route.
    Norasia’s transpacific service is currently the fastest from Hong Kong to Vancouver.
    China Ocean Shipping Co., "K" Line, Yangming, Evergreen and the Grand Alliance carriers OOCL, NYK, P&O Nedlloyd and Hapag-Lloyd are the other carriers to provide fast services from Hong Kong to Vancouver. Their eastbound transits are 14 days for the Grand Alliance and 15 days for COSCO/"K" Line/Yangming and Evergreen, according to ComPairData, the global shipping database on liner services.
