MTS Logistics announced that it has raised over $81,000 for autism awareness ahead of the upcoming 12th Annual Bike Tour with MTS for Autism, which will take place Saturday in New York City.

Each year, MTS Logistics sponsors the biggest bike event in the shipping industry to raise funds for Spectrum Works, a nonprofit workforce training program that provides job training and employment opportunities for young adults with autism.

The event brings together participants from all over the world, including steamship lines, shippers, importers, customs brokers and other logistics companies to create awareness about autism and employment.

After a successful event last year raising $65,000, this year MTS Logistics increased its goal to its largest yet, $80,000, which it has already surpassed prior to the event.

Eighty percent of people with autism are unemployed, and Spectrum Works is trying to change that. Money raised for Spectrum Works will go toward providing 25,000 new jobs and the launch of its BRIDGES technology platform, which will help connect companies, schools, caregivers and individuals with autism to the resources needed to expand employment opportunities for people with autism.

MTS Logistics strongly believes in corporate social responsibility to inject good into the world.  To further bring attention to autism, the company published a book in 2016 titled “The Book On Autism” and donated all profits to support autism awareness. Last year, it launched an Oceans Cleanup event that was held in the U.S. and Turkey. MTS employees came together to clean up trash along beaches.

Sedat Saka, founder and president of MTS Logistics, released the following statement:

“On behalf of the entire MTS Logistics team, I want to thank every supporter and sponsor in both the shipping/logistics industries and the business community who helped us reach our goal and raise nearly $100,000 for autism awareness. MTS Logistics has always been a strong partner in furthering corporate social responsibility. Since our founding, we have participated in various initiatives to give back and make the world a better place. These initiatives have included our annual bike tour event, our beach cleanup projects to stop garbage from entering our oceans, held in both the U.S. and Turkey, publishing a book on autism, and finally, providing a fair, equal working environment that puts employees first with programs like our 100% paid-for gym memberships for a healthier lifestyle. We look forward to giving back for years to come.”
