China Ocean Shipping (Group) Co. has appointed Ma Zehua
general manager of Qingdao Ocean Shipping Co., a subsidiary of the COSCO group in Qingdao.
Ma was previously deputy general manager of Guangzhou Ocean Shipping Co.
Earlier in his career, he had been general manager of COSCO U.K. Ltd. and president of
COSCO Americas Inc.
In a separate development, COSCO reported that COSCO Qingdao exceeded volume
targets for the first 10 months of 1999. The total transportation cargo volume reached
9,370,000 tons, 4 percent ahead of target.
