South Korea’s national air carrier, Korean Air, has a new president and
chairman after 29 top executives resigned in the wake of a series of
accidents, including last week’s crash of an MD-11 outside Shanghai.
Those executives stepping down included chairman Cho Choong-hoon, who
took "all responsibility for the recent plane accident," the airline said
in a released statement.
Shim Yi-taek, a vice president with 27 year experience at the airline,
was named president. Cho Yang-ho, Cho’s eldest son who stepped down as
president, was named chairman of external affairs, with no responsibility
for direct management.
