KOREA TO RESTRICT SERVICES OF KOREAN AIR

   The Korean government has said it will impose further restrictions on
Korean Air flights following last week’s crash of a Korean Air MD-11
freighter outside Shanghai.
   The government had reduced Korean Air’s domestic flights for several
months prior to the accident, for safety reasons. Further restrictions are
expected by the end of April.
   Safety concerns at Korean Air have been rising ever since one of the
airline’s jets was shot down over Russia in the 1980s. In 1997, a Korean
Air B747 crash killed more than 250 people in Guam.
   At least seven people, three pilots and four people on the ground, have
been reported dead after the Shanghai crash. Inspectors have ruled out
explosives as a cause, according to wire reports.
