INTTRA SIGNS DANZAS, PANALPINA, SCHENKER

INTTRA SIGNS DANZAS, PANALPINA, SCHENKER    INTTRA, a provider of business-to-business ocean freight services and one of three online shipping “portals,” signed freight forwarding and logistics providers Danzas Group, Panalpina World Transport Ltd. and Schenker AG to its network.
The three companies, which collectively transported 1.6 million TEUs in 2000, join Kuehne & Nagel International AG, the Swiss ocean freight forwarder, which signed with INTTRA in July. The additions extend INTTRA's edge with forwarder and logistics firms, compared to competing portals GT Nexus and OOCL-owned CargoSmart.com.
The three new participants will connect to INTTRA-LINK, which simplifies booking and scheduling by directly connecting INTTRA’s network of participating carriers'to the existing enterprise software systems of forwarders and logistics providers.
“INTTRA’s standardized integration methodologies will enable us to rapidly enhance our services to customers,” said Renato Chiavi, head of Swiss-based Danzas’ intercontinental business unit.
Joerg Eggenberger, chief executive officer of Panalpina World Transport Ltd, also Swiss-based, said INTTRA’s “uniform portal will improve our speed of workflow in ocean freight.”
INTTRA-LINK “provides streamlined processes and seamless integration of ocean-related services with the supply chain,” said Thomas C. Lieb, member of the board of German-based Schenker AG.
INTTRA, based in Parsippany, N.J., has offices in Virum, Denmark, and Hong Kong. The portal, established in April 2000, is sponsored financially by a consortium of ocean carriers, including Maersk Sealand, Hapag-Lloyd, Mediterranean Shipping Co. S.A., Hamburg Sud, CMA CGM and P&O Nedlloyd.
