Hurricane Delta prompts warning for US Gulf Coast (with forecast video)

Hurricane Delta was moving across the central Gulf of Mexico Thursday afternoon on a collision course with the U.S. Gulf Coast. It was becoming better organized with a fairly well-defined eye.

Delta is a Category 2 storm but will likely strengthen a bit more before weakening prior to landfall. It will still be a dangerous hurricane when it hits southwestern Louisiana Friday afternoon or evening.

Earlier Thursday, the National Hurricane Center upgraded the hurricane watch from High Island, Texas, to Morgan City, Louisiana, to a hurricane warning. Drivers picking up loads in Delta’s potential impact should get out of the region Thursday night. Further details are available in the attached video.

The Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA) has temporarily waived hours of service (HIS) regulations for drivers wanting to directly help with Delta’s relief and recovery efforts.
