Executive Moves: KPMG, World Insurance, Natco

Steven Brotherton has joined KPMG LLP as a partner and national and global leader of export controls and sanctions. Brotherton has more than 20 years of experience. Most recently, he led the export controls and sanctions practice at Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg PA, an international trade, customs and export firm. Brotherton also will head KPMG’s Bay Area trade and customs team from the firm’s San Francisco office, where he will be based. “Export controls and sanctions are a growing challenge for companies, and they will only become more complicated as the U.S. establishes new controls on emerging technology and new mechanisms to scrutinize foreign investment,” said Andrew Siciliano, partner and U.S. trade and customs practice leader at KPMG. “Our expanded service offering, with new leadership and additional experienced talent, will enable us to better assist clients as they seek increased guidance and tools to help navigate today’s disruptive and constantly changing trade terrain.” World Insurance Services Inc. has promoted Monica Lee from executive vice president to chief executive officer. Bryce Barnhart, who had led the marine insurance provider for independent freight forwarders, is now WCA’s vice president of North America. “In just three years, Bryce did an extraordinary job of taking World Insurance from a standing start to the most innovative, responsive team in the logistics insurance business,” said Phil Bilney, co-owner of World Insurance. “Bryce returns to WCA as a fluent advocate of the outstanding insurance products he worked so hard to create.” Lee has 15 years of marine insurance experience and is a license holder in most U.S. states. World Insurance Services is based in Pompano Beach, Fla. The announcement said Lee’s “specialized background in marine cargo and freight forwarder transport liability insurance, coupled with her previous experience as Lloyd’s cover holder and strong analytical skills, make her the ideal candidate to serve as World Insurance Services’ CEO.” Natco AG, an international project logistics provider and part of the U.K.-based Trans Global Projects Group, has hired Lukas Kopp as its new projects director. Kopp, a Swiss native, will be based at Natco’s headquarters in Ruemlang, near Zurich, Switzerland. Most recently, Kopp served as a member of the board of management with Basel’s project specialist, General Transport AG. Previously, Kopp he worked with the DHL Group in the United States and Switzerland. Natco AG CEO Joerg Roehl said Kopp “will be playing a very important role in the further alignment of Natco AG projects within the global TGP network of companies and partners.”
