EMERY WORLDWIDE LAUNCHES CLASS “A” SHANGHAI FORWARDING OPERATION

   Emery Worldwide has entered into a joint venture that will launch a “Class A” full freight forwarding operations in Shanghai.
   Emery Worldwide International Transportation Ltd. is the venture between Emery and China Elec-Trans International Service Ltd., a subsidiary of state-owned China National Electronics Import and Export Corp. The joint venture company was awarded an “A” license in Beijing in October 1998 and has been providing freight forwarding and logistics services directly in China.
   China Elec-Trans is the sole international freight forwarder for China's electronics sector.
   Emery has provided service in China since 1983, through liaison offices and agency representation. The company now has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin and Dalian. Its Asia Pacific Area, based in Singapore, has more than 50 offices and agent locations across the region.
   The joint venture's operations include air freight, sea freight, customs clearance and warehousing consolidation/deconsolidation.
