The European Commission has approved the acquisition of a majority
stake in ASG, the Swedish logistics and forwarding company, by the Deutsche Post/Danzas
group.
With this acquisition, Deutsche Post "will strengthen its so far
marginal activities in Scandinavia," the EC said.
Danzas said that it has an option to buy additional shares in ASG from
AB Custos. It the Swiss company exercises the option to purchase the shares, it will own
76 percent of the stock of ASG.
Deutsche Post and Danzas said that ASG will now join the Danzas
network.
The approval of the ASG transaction follows the recent clearance by the
EC of the acquisition of Nedlloyd’s transport and distribution activities.
