CSX LINES IS UP AND RUNNING

CSX Lines has commenced its independent operations following the sale of most of Sea-Land Service’s shipping activities to A.P. Moller on Dec. 10.
Former Sea-Land staff now working with CSX Lines moved into the company’s new headquarters in Charlotte on Tuesday. A spokesperson for CSX Lines, owned by CSX Corp., said that approximately 100 people are currently employed by CSX Lines.
The company’s new president and chief executive officer for CSX Lines is Charles G. Raymond, previously the senior vice president-operations with Sea-Land.
CSX Lines confirmed that there is to be some co-operation between Maersk Sealand and itself. On the transpacific "TP1/PEX" service operated by CSX Lines, Maersk Sealand takes space between Hawaii/Guam and the Far East. CSX Lines also act as sales-agent for Maersk Sealand in Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
CSX lines said that it will also operate as a feeder operator in the Caribbean for mainline operators.
CSX Lines operate eight direct liner services from the U.S. mainland to Puerto Rico, Hawaii/Guam and Alaska. They also operate a barge service from Dutch Harbor to nearby ports and a feeder service to the neighboring islands of Honolulu.
CSX Lines also took on 16 U.S. Flag vessels from Sea-Land and there are no immediate plans to rename or upgrade the capacity of the vessels.
Complete listings for all CSX Lines services and details of the new headquarters address are available from the global liner shipping database, ComPairData, at https://www.compairdata.com
