Canada Maritime and Contship Containerlines said that
they will take slots on the direct Mediterranean/U.S. West Coast/Canadian West Coast
service operated by D’Amico and Italia.
The agreement is expected to commence within a few weeks.
With sailings every 14 days, the service calls at Leghorn and Genoa in
Italy; Valencia, Spain; Cartagena, Colombia; Long Beach, Calif.; Vancouver, British
Columbia; Portland, Ore.; and Oakland, Calif.
The joint Canada Maritime/Contship network of commercial offices will
market the service in North America. Contship bills of lading will be issued for shipments
via U.S. ports and Canada Maritime B/Ls will be used for Vancouver shipments.
Canada Maritime and Contship are sister companies within the CP Ships
group.
