Burris Logistics of Milford, Del., has completed its acquisition of Trinity Logistics, which is headquartered 23 miles away in Seaford, Del.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by the two privately held companies.
Burris Logistics has about 1,700 employees located 16 offices throughout the U.S. and operates multiple business units, including Burris Custom Distribution, Burris PRW Plus, Burris Freight Management and Honor Foods.
Trinity Logistics, which was established by the Banning family in 1979, has about 275 employees located in five regional offices. It also works with about 100 agent offices throughout North America and its network of more than 40,000 carriers arranges over 350,000 shipments annually.
“The path to the acquisition began with a conversation between two CEOs and good friends,” said Jeff Banning, president and CEO of Trinity Logistics, referencing early discussions with Burris Logistics chief executive Donnie Burris, in a statement.
“As we discussed our future and common visions, it became clear that we could become a stronger, more competitive organization by joining forces,” he added.
The companies said the acquisition was “seamless” for their employees, customers, carriers and agent networks. “All aspects of the Trinity community will find that familiar team members and procedures will remain in place,” said Billy Banning, president of Trinity Logistics.
“Both providers have dedicated technology teams which will allow us to grow technology platforms to attract new customers, carriers and agents,” said Nick Falk, president of Burris Freight. “It is our intent that the Burris Freight Management brand will be replaced with Trinity Logistics as the transportation business unit of Burris.”
