BRITISH AIR CARGO GROUP BLAMES U.S./U.K. DEADLOCK ON BILATERAL TALKS

    The British Cargo Airline Alliance, a British lobbying group, has criticized the deadlock between the U.S. and British governments on a new bilateral agreement.
    The criticism follows the cancelation of a round of bilateral talks, scheduled on July 6. The aviation talks were suspended because British Airways has refused to give up the amount of take-off and landing slots required by regulators to approve an alliance between BA and American Airlines.
    The British lobby group said that "there is no point in the two sides meeting unless the U.S. government has a genuine reciprocal agenda to put forward." The group of airlines wants the U.S. government to open the wet-leasing market to British airlines.
