A former third-party CDL skills tester was recently sentenced to two years in prison for his role in a three-year bribery scheme.
In February, Kelly N. Goodman, 72, of Gooding, Idaho, pleaded guilty to one count of honest services wire fraud in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho. According to the release, issued in late June, he specifically pleaded guilty to accepting a bribe in return for giving an individual a passing score on the Idaho CDL skills test on Aug. 31, 2021.
Prior to his arrest, Goodman had worked as a third-party CDL skills tester for the Idaho Department of Transportation from the 1990s until late 2021.
According to the plea agreement, Goodman accepted numerous bribes between December 2017 and May 2020, which totaled nearly $38,000, in exchange for providing passing scores on the Idaho CDL skills test.
U.S. District Court Judge Amanda K. Brailsford also ordered Goodman to pay $38,000. It was not immediately clear whether anyone was charged with offering bribes to Goodman.
