Commerce seeks Africa advisory council members

The department is looking for members to fill the 2019-2021 term of the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa.    The Commerce Department announced Monday that it’s seeking applications for membership to the 2019-2021 term of the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa, and will accept applications through 5 p.m. on March 18.
   The advisory council’s purpose is to advise the president through Commerce on strengthening commercial engagement between the U.S. and Africa.
   Commerce will accept applications up to two years after the deadline to fill any vacancies that may arise, Commerce said.
   The council’s responsibilities include creating jobs in the U.S. and Africa through trade and investment, developing strategies by which the U.S. private sector can identify and take advantage of trade and investment opportunities in Africa, and analyzing the effect of policies in the U.S. and Africa on U.S. trade and investment interests in Africa.
   The council must include no more than 26 private sector corporate members, including small business and representatives from infrastructure, agriculture, consumer goods, banking, services, and other industries, Commerce said.
